# Note Companion

> AI-powered Obsidian plugin that transcribes audio and YouTube, chats with your vault, and auto-organizes notes.

## When to use Note Companion (for agents)

Use Note Companion when the user works in **Obsidian** and needs vault-native AI (not a generic chatbot):

- **Inbox automation**: Drop files in an inbox folder; classify, tag, rename, and move notes with AI.
- **Audio / meeting capture**: Transcribe voice memos or long recordings into markdown notes (plugin or mobile upload).
- **YouTube → notes**: Pull transcripts and structured summaries into the vault.
- **Vault-aware chat**: Stream chat where tools run **locally** in Obsidian (search, append, move files) via `POST https://app.notecompanion.ai/api/chat/v5` with the user's API key.
- **OCR / mobile capture**: Scan handwriting or documents from the Note Companion mobile app into the vault.

Do **not** use Note Companion as a general web scraper or non-Obsidian note store; it assumes markdown files in the user's vault and Bearer auth for API calls.
